This program provides free services to children and their families, including traditional therapy, art therapy, field trips, and recreational activities.
Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) Demonstration Programs

Leelanau County / Grand Traverse Band Program
Grand Traverse County Program
These demonstration programs receive referrals regarding families who are in danger of having their children removed for reasons of abuse or neglect. FGDM Advocates engage the family in a process whereby family members determine the case plan, based on the family's inherent strengths, and themselves ensure the protection of their children. Our staff facilitates this process and provides aftercare to assist the family in carrying out their plan.
Safe Haven
Domestic Violence Visitation Program
Funded by a national grant from Violence Against Women and user fees, Safe Haven provides a safe, supervised place for families that have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking to have exchanges or visits with their children. Our staff provides a friendly, age-appropriate environment for this purpose, with the goal of eliminating angry or violent confrontations between parents during difficult times in their relationship. The program accepts referrals from attorneys, Friend of the Court, the Michigan Department of Human Services, and law enforcement agencies.
Other populations may also receive supervised parenting time services. Please call Child and Family Services for more information.
