Since 1937, Child & Family Services have provided a safety net for the most vulnerable children and families of Northern Michigan though a collection of behavioral health services, parenting resources, foster care and adoption assistance, youth outreach and support, and shelters for runaway, homeless or displaced adolescents.
CFS' Foster Care, Adoption, Licensing, Behavioral Health, Pete's Place, and Respite programs are CARF accredited! This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.

Third Level Services programs are designed to improve youth development, strengthen family functioning, and reunite families.
YouthWork Industries is an AmeriCorps program that provides service-based learning opportunities for young adults throughout Michigan. Participants learn important job and life skills, complete incredible, visible, and lasting projects in their home communities, and build lifelong relationships with other members and YouthWork staff.
YouthWork has generated a lot of excitement in northern Michigan, due to the real-life learning experiences and community empowerment centered at the heart of this program.
