No parent is perfect. Child & Family Services has several programs designed to help parents be the best they can be. We can provide you with tools to manage stress, deal with difficult behaviors, work with a co-parent, and keep your child safe. Always a Parent Program

Parenting in Real Time

Child & Family Services offers the “Always a Parent” program to parents who want to improve their parenting skills or who are having difficulty communicating with a co-parent.

“Always a Parent” emphasizes the impact of parents’ behavior on their children, and teaches parents positive, effective, cooperative communication techniques in an enjoyable, interactive way.

These 8-hour classes are offered monthly and times vary according to current needs. Please call for more information or to register.

What You Can Expect

  • Classes run for three consecutive weeks for a total of eight hours (roughly 2.5 hours per week)
  • All classes are held at Child & Family Services
  • $80 fee includes sessions, textbook, and certificate. Please talk with us if you're concerned about paying for services.
  • Certificate issued upon successful course completion

Xmas Foster Support volunteersSupport groups at CFS provide meaningful learning opportunities for parents and allows you to connect with other foster and adoptive parents who may often share your joy and struggles.

CFS staff wants to team up with YOU to provide the best possible services to children and families in our community. We recognize the expertise’ of so many of you who have "been in the trenches" and have developed some fabulous skills – we need YOU as well! Support Groups are only as effective as the people who participate and the insights that are gained in the process.

All sessions run 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Childcare and a light dinner is provided. Registration by phone or email is required. Please let us know which sessions you plan to attend and your childcare needs so we may plan appropriately. Foster parents receive two hours of credit towards training for attending.
