"I
get all the arguments against it. I even get the one that says I don't know
if I want to bring another kid into this world. But how do you argue with
the logic of loving one that's already here?" |

At any given time up to
600 Michigan children are waiting for an adoptive family and
a place to call home. Through our free Special Needs Adoption Program, we
help find safe havens for the region's waiting children. We recruit families, assist adoptions and
provide support services for special needs children, many of whom have been placed in
foster care due to parental neglect or abuse. Special needs children include boys and
girls who may be three years old or older, members of sibling groups, or racial and ethnic
minorities. They also may have physical, mental or emotional handicaps.

| Couples and single adults over 18 years old with good moral character and a safe and stable home are eligible to become adoptive parents through our Special Needs Adoption Program. All services are free, and adoptive parents are reimbursed for child care. Prospective adoptive parents are carefully screened. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
